Billups says the Nuggets should retire Anthony s No. 15 jersey. The number currently belongs to Jokic
Hall of Fame member and current Trail Blazers coach Billups was interviewed by Andscape's famous reporter Marc J. Spears and talked about former teammate Anthony, who is about to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He said that the Nuggets should retire Anthony's No. 15 jersey.
"The Nuggets should have retired the year after Anthony retired," Billups said. "So it seems to me that it's too late to retire the jersey now. Given the significance of Anthony to the team, retiring his jersey should be the top priority."
"Anthony is one of the greatest stars in the Nuggets' history. Obviously, there were a lot of great stars before us, and of course, there were Jokic later, but Anthony is one of the greatest stars in the history of the team. I'm still in Denver, and all the fans and people I know are still grateful to him, they love him." Billups added.
Anthony has played for more than seven seasons with the Nuggets, averaging 24.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Under his leadership, the Nuggets won the Northwest Division championship twice and entered the playoffs seven times in a row. During this period, he was selected into the NBA All-Squad four times.
It is worth mentioning that the current number 15 of the Nuggets belongs to the third-time MVP Jokic.
