The Sun reported on the progress of the reconstruction of Real Betis Stadium.

Betis' Villamarin Stadium begins rebuilding this summer, and they play at the Rakatuha Stadium seven miles away this season. Unlike most stadium remodels, Betis did not add 60,000 seats to the home court, but chose to have a modern redesign to add VIP seats to generate additional revenue.

The old historic structure is now almost unrecognizable, and only one stand remains after the construction team demolished most of the venue. Photos taken at the construction site show that only excavators and bricks are left on the site, with huge changes. There are only a group of large green seats left on the site, and their main supporting structure is still there.

Similar to Barcelona, Betis was unable to play at his usual home court due to the reconstruction of the stadium and switched to the multi-purpose Racatuja Stadium, which can accommodate 70,000 people. The stadium was built for the 1999 World Track and Field Championships and has hosted the Spanish national team competition.

It was selected as the venue for the Women's UEFA 2024 Final (eventually Spain won the championship) and was expanded earlier this year. Madonna, U2, Red Peppers, AC/DC and Blues Springsteen have performed at this stadium.

Real Betis hopes to return to home at the start of the 2027-28 season. The remodeled stadium will have a new ceiling, and club chairman Angel Harrow said the changes will ensure a leap in quality and quantity of revenue.
