Recently, Pacers head coach Carlisle participated in Caitlin Cooper's program.

He said: "When I was a player, when I left the Celtics to join the New York Knicks, Rick Pitino was the head coach, and his scouts and assistant coaches did very meticulously. Stu Jackson was an assistant coach at the time. He came to me with the Celtics scout report. They were several charts full of tactics, each with about a dozen tactics, and he had three or four of these papers. He said, 'Rick, I have to get these tactical codes, because Pitino was particularly concerned about every detail.' I said, 'Stu, these are either tactics, they are just playing basketball. ’He was very confused about it. I said, ‘Really, we only have four or five tactical codes.’ Cardinal Auerbach coached the Celtics in the years they won nine championships in 11 years, with a total of seven tactics. ”

"When I was at the Celtics, the tactics were probably a little more than seven, but many of them were free offenses, and the core was to give players power. That team had five or six Hall of Fame players, so KC Jones (the coach at the time) easily handed over command to Dennis Johnson, Larry Bird, Robert Parish, McHale and others. ”
